BASIC FUNCTION:
The purpose of this position is to provide pedagogical, administrative, and research training for a Research Fellow in the College of Arts and Sciences (COAS) through including but not limited to the development of research skills in genomics & bioinformatics, presentation, teaching, and writing.
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:
Involves no responsibility or authority for the direction of others.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Internal contacts include the principal investigator, assistant/associate deans, directors, department heads/chairs, faculty, staff and students at the College and school levels, and deans, directors and executive level officers at University level.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Manage a computational biology research portfolio in the Department of Biology; lead projects designed by the principal investigator; Develop genomics and bioinformatics projects; Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Participates in academic, didactic, and professional training provided through seminars, workshops and direct meetings with grant faculty.
Coordinates and assure development of bioinformatics tools and publish research papers on high profile journals.
Conducts data collection, statistical analysis, and data interpretation for grant applications.
Participates in grant writing, development of manuscripts and reports.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

Demonstrated computing experience and knowledge, including software packages development.
Competence in both oral and written English and ability to articulate concisely and in a professional manner.
Ability to work effectively in team-oriented interdisciplinary genomic research.

Expected Salary Range: $54,545 - $60,000
