Marqeta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief of Staff to support our Chief Technology and AI Officer. This role will be instrumental in driving strategic initiatives, managing complex projects, and ensuring the smooth operation of the technology and AI organization. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a skilled communicator, and a highly organized individual with a passion for technology and innovation.

The Impact You'll Have
- Strategic Planning & Execution
- Collaborate with the CTO/AI Officer leadership team to develop and execute long-term strategic plans.
- Collaborate with CTO/AI Officer, CISO and Technology Infrastructure Executives to create regular memos for our Board of Directors and Audit Committees
- Conduct market research and industry analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
- Operational Excellence
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the technology and AI organization, including budgeting, resource allocation, and performance management.
- Measure success through metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure the impact and success of the People Experience programs to identify areas for improvement.
- Champion change:Develop and implement change management and communication plans to facilitate adoption of key initiatives, and create a feedback loop to help with iteration and improvement.
- Coordinate with various teams across the organization to ensure alignment and efficient collaboration.
- Executive Support
- Partner with the Executive Assistant who supports the CTO/AI Officer with scheduling, travel arrangements, and meeting preparation for critical and high level initiatives.
- Planning and execution of major events such as leadership offsites and trainings.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and other materials as needed.
- Team Leadership
- Demonstrate Thought Leadership amongst a high-performing team of technology professionals.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Help to Recruit and develop top talent.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree.
- Advanced degree (MBA or MS) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in a strategic leadership role, preferably in technology or finance.
- Excellent technical memo writing skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Proven track record of successful project management and execution.
- Strong understanding of technology trends and the AI landscape.
Nice-To-Haves
- Technical Proficiency: While not a technical role, a basic understanding of technology (e.g. cloud computing and security) and AI concepts is very beneficial.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in the specific industry of your organization can be advantageous.
- Leadership Skills: The ability to influence and inspire others is crucial.
- Adaptability: The role requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Hands on experience with AWS

Compensation and Benefits
Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:
- National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
- Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
- Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:
- National: $153,150 - $204,200
- Premium: $172,350 - $229,800
- Premium Plus: $191,475 - $255,300
