We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.The Chief Data Analytics Office (CDAO) provides specialized data services and platforms for the CommBank group & is accountable for developing Group’s data strategy, data policy & standards, governance and set requirements for data enablers/tools. The team is also accountable to facilitate a community of practitioners to share best practice and build data talent and capabilities.Impact& Contribution: To ensure the Group achieves sustainable competitive advantage through data & analytics, you will need to play a key role in supporting the CDAO in executing to the Groups data strategy.
You will be accountable for building advanced data capabilities for CDAO projects/programs. A key aspect of the role is to utilize knowledge of data engineering principles and practices, coupled with specific data technology and domain knowledge, to design and deliver solutions for business needs and drive strong software and systems engineering thinking.
This will include sound knowledge of the emerging technologies in Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Python, AI & ML, data strategy and architecture aligning with CDO business needs.Roles & Responsibilities: You will be expected to perform the following tasks and responsibilities in a manner consistent with CBA's Values and People Capabilities. Core Responsibilities include:
- Attend the Sprint planning meeting and participate to execute the User stories/requests from the Product Owners & Delivery Lead.
- Contribute to domain planning, providing guidance to ensure that technical deliveries are aligned to engineering direction and strategy.
- Design and development of large-scale AI applications using AWS services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI into existing systems and applications.
- Ensure the reliability and functionality of AI Systems.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Gen AI research and development on AWS, applying this knowledge to improve our solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse and translate requirements to technical implementation.
- Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement within the team and in delivery of products.
- Produce high quality, sustainable solutions to meet business requirements, leveraging approved delivery frameworks and by applying industry best practice.

Essential Skills:
- 2-5 years’ experience in data engineering, DevOps, or a related role.
- Stakeholder management – advanced ability and extensive experience managing large and varied stakeholder groups across levels, and influencing group-wide change
- Leadership – advanced ability influencing varied stakeholder groups and inspiring large, diverse group of data and analytics professionals around a vision and a unified way to consume data
- Communication – expert oral and written communication skills with ability to lead discussions with a varied stakeholder across levels. Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem solving – advanced conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze complex information for key insights and present as meaningful information to senior management
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals: Data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and software design principles.
- Strong proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub; Experience across Enterprise DevOps, Python, AWS, Docker and Kubernetes
- Proficiency in automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
- We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team: DevOps, Python programming language and its libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn), AWS and Platform using Unix
- Strong proficiency in Snowflake; Experience in Development projects using Snowflake, AWS/Cloud Services
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, SageMaker, and other relevant AI/ML
- Familiarity with Generative AI models: Working knowledge of leading large language models (LLMs) and their applications.
- Data Engineering Skills: Experience with data pipelines, data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Familiarity with AI agentic framework and MLOps practices including model training, deployment, and monitoring.
- Experience across Enterprise BI/Big Data/DW/ETL technologies such as Teradata, Hadoop, Tableau, SAS, Hyperion or Business Objects
Education Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
- Recognized industry certifications such as AWS Certified Developer Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
