Your role:
You will be responsible for leading the overall BB Tech Architecture Centre of Excellence, defining and embedding the target architecture for Business Banking and empowering crews to deliver the ambitions of the Technology Strategy,. You will lead multiple domain aligned teams, working across the Business Digital, Business Lending, CommSec, Customer Channel & Data, Everyday Business Banking and Payments domains.
You will be responsible for defining, measuring, and improving the end-to-end approach to Architectural Governance, ensuring consistent application across Business Bank. The role requires uplifting Architecture maturity by fostering a culture of sharing, learning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. You will lead, inspire, motivate, and provide strategic direction to Domain architecture leaders and Architects, in addition to Crew leaders and their teams. You will operate as a key partner and advisor, providing timely and effective advice to senior leaders on embedding the target state architecture and strategy.
More specifically you will:
Lead multiple domain aligned Architecture teams, operating in a flow to work ‘Centre of Excellence’ model, aligned to scaled Agile ways of working.
Define, measure and improve the end to end approach to Architectural Governance, ensuring that it is consistently applied across Business Bank, in line with endorsed guardrails.
Uplift Architecture maturity by fostering a culture of sharing, learning, problem solving and continuous improvement across the CoE.
Lead, inspire, motivate and provide strategic direction to the Domain architecture leaders, their team members and crews, providing visible people leadership and management.
Work as a key partner/advisor and provide responsive, effective, accurate and timely advice to senior leaders on how to best embed the target state architecture and strategy.
Collaborate with Engineering leaders to uplift the design skills and maturity of the Engineering community, ensuring that Architects are focused on providing strategic direction to achieve the target state.
Define and report on progress and achievement towards the target state architecture and key focus areas for Business Bank.
Lead like an owner and ensure the CoE cost base is accurate and efficiently and effectively managed to the agreed persistent capacity plan.
Build and effectively manage long-term relationships with customers and stakeholders, across group Technology (e.g.: Enterprise Architecture, CTO) and other Business Unit Technology functions.
We’re interested in hearing from experienced senior leaders with:
Extensive experience in senior Architectural leadership positions, with demonstrated experience in applying Domain Driven Design in the Financial Services industry, ideally aligned to BIAN.
Proven experience in successfully implementing approaches to application & platform modernisation, including API’s, Data Products and a Cloud first strategy.
In depth knowledge of key industry trends, in particular Artificial Intelligence and Agentic AI.
Exceptional communication, strategy and presentation skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and business acumen.
Highly organised, with a key attention to detail and the ability to navigate a large organisation.
Ability and experience in challenging the norm and confidence in having hard professional conversations as part of the challenge.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet objectives and targets to tight deadlines.
