About the Role
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at CompScience, you'll be the architect and guardian of our critical AWS infrastructure. You'll design and implement highly reliable and scalable systems, automate deployments with IaC, and ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency. Your expertise in security and disaster recovery will be crucial in maintaining our compliance and business continuity. You'll collaborate closely with development teams, driving CI/CD improvements and ensuring our infrastructure scales seamlessly with our rapid growth.
Responsibilities
Reliable Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Plan, build, and deploy a highly reliable and scalable infrastructure, including robust authentication and cybersecurity practices.
AWS Infrastructure Management and Automation: Manage and automate AWS infrastructure using core services (EC2, Lambda, etc.) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) for optimal performance and availability.
Monitoring, Performance, and Cost Optimization: Implement comprehensive monitoring and observability solutions, optimize infrastructure performance, and manage costs effectively through AWS services and strategies.
Scalability and Reliability Engineering: Architect and maintain highly available and fault-tolerant infrastructure, collaborating closely with development teams to ensure seamless deployments.
CI/CD and Deployment Automation: Improve CI/CD pipelines and automate deployments, integrating infrastructure changes efficiently. Specific experience with CI/CD technology such as Github actions and Jenkins.
Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security practices, including IAM policy and role management, server hardening, and AWS network security controls. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and assist in remediation efforts to ensure ongoing compliance with standards such as SOC 2.
Disaster Recovery and Documentation: Design and implement disaster recovery strategies, and maintain thorough infrastructure documentation for incident response and knowledge sharing.
Required Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of hands-on experience managing advanced AWS infrastructure, including core services and architecture.
Proven ability to automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
Strong experience in utilizing AWS CloudWatch, X-Ray, and log aggregation tools for effective system monitoring.
Deep knowledge of AWS security best practices and demonstrated ability to optimize infrastructure for performance and cost efficiency.
Solid understanding of AWS networking principles and excellent troubleshooting capabilities for infrastructure and application issues.
Nice-to-have
Strong experience with container technologies: Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes (EKS preferred).

Compensation: CompScience is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary range for this role is $175,000 – $200,000. Compensation is determined within the range based on your qualifications and experience. Our total compensation package also includes equity and comprehensive benefits.
