Akamai Technologies, Inc. is hiring for the following role in Cambridge, MA (multiple openings): Site Reliability Engineer. Senior Lead. Working on analytical projects related to the metadata systems which support fast and reliable configuration of the company’s global network. Leading the effort in working closely with the development teams in designing/implementing performance enhancements and new features. Developing monitoring tools and automating processes to help scale our systems better. Defining metrics for tracking system performance and driving these systems to meet those metrics. Responding to incidents and preventing incidents through predictive modeling and active analysis. Leading the activation of new features and platform configuration while prioritizing safety and availability. Troubleshooting complex application issues, service incidents, performance and availability issues. Working with internal customers/teams to troubleshoot customer environments to increase user satisfaction. Telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the United States. [AG0416]

Required Qualification:
Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Systems Management, or Telecommunication Engineering, plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role. Must have: three (3) years of experience with the following: large-scale distributed systems; statistical and data analysis; predictive modeling; machine learning; big data processing paradigms such as MapReduce or Hadoop; Unix/Linux computing environments; multiprocessing or multithreading; load balancing and high availability; and internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, and HTTP. One (1) year of experience with Java and middleware.
Alternately, employer will accept Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Systems Management, or Telecommunication Engineering, plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role. Must have: three (3) years of experience with the following: large-scale distributed systems; statistical and data analysis; predictive modeling; machine learning; big data processing paradigms such as MapReduce or Hadoop; Unix/Linux computing environments; multiprocessing or multithreading; load balancing and high availability; and internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, and HTTP. Compensation:
Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $172744 - $221400/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
