The Research Scientist in the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center will be responsible for organizing and conducting day-to-day experimental activities related to research in spinal cord injury. The position will be responsible for neuromodulation and in-vivo reprogramming of glial cells to functional neurons for neural repair of the CNS. This position will utilize basic animal surgery skills, histology, microscopy, and specialty skills in electrophysiology. Experience with transgenic animals and urinary systems is beneficial. This is a grant funded position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct research in spinal cord injury, including neuromodulation and in-vivo reprogramming of glial cells to functional neurons for neural repair of the CNS.
Develop AI-based video analysis system and brain/spinal cord machine interface.
Prepare results for NIH annual reports.
Publish papers in high-profile journals.
Prepare and deliver poster, oral, and seminar presentations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic skills in animal surgery, histology, and microscopy.
Specialty skills in electrophysiology.
Experience with transgenic animals and urinary systems.
Established publication record.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
