General Description:

The Senior Manager, R&D Data Modeler sets the strategic vision for data architecture across our R&D organization. You will define enterprise-wide modeling standards, drive adoption of next-generation tools, and act as the senior advisor on all high-impact analytics and AI data products.

Essential Functions of the job:

Strategic Data Architecture
- Define the enterprise modeling roadmap—aligning data architecture with long-term R&D objectives.
- Lead the design of advanced conceptual and logical frameworks that span Research, Clinical, Safety, Regulatory, and beyond.
- Advocate for modular, micro-service–friendly physical models to accelerate self-service analytics and AI.
Governance & Tooling
- Develop and oversee governance frameworks that institutionalize FAIR principles and regulatory compliance at scale.
- Evaluate emerging modeling paradigms (graph, knowledge-graph, metadata-driven) and pilot proof-of-concepts.
- Influence tool selection—driving enterprise adoption of metadata repositories, lineage platforms, and model-driven development.

Cross-Functional Leadership
- Chair architecture councils and data governance boards to harmonize modeling standards across functions.
- Collaborate with CDO, IT, and business sponsors to secure investment in modeling initiatives and data-product innovation.
Thought Leadership & Mentorship
- Publish best-practice frameworks, reference architectures, and reusable design patterns.
- Mentor lead modelers and senior analysts—cultivating a center of excellence for data modeling and information management.
- Represent R&D data architecture at industry forums and conferences.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related discipline.
7+ years of strategic data modeling/architecture experience in regulated environments, deep Pharma R&D expertise strongly preferred.
Proven ability to define and drive enterprise-scale modeling standards and tool migrations.
Expert knowledge of modern data platforms (cloud-native, hybrid, graph databases) and advanced integration patterns.
Exceptional leadership, influencing, and cross-stakeholder collaboration skills.

Salary Range: $137,600.00 - $182,600.00 annually

Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
