Job Responsibility
- Provides strategic advice and guidance to the Emerging Technologies Informatics function. Maintains knowledge of emerging technological trends and utilizes this knowledge to educate both IT and the business on opportunities to build better IT solutions that support and drive business decisions.
- Assists in the definition of the architecture and technology needs of the organization based on new and emerging technologies, and establishes priorities and strategies consistent with business goals and economic viability.
- Establishes foundation architecture for organization to standardize on hardware and software usage.
- Serves as a consultant and advisor to senior IT leadership on advanced technologies and evaluates the business impact through cost/benefit analysis.
- Recommends and incorporates technology with long-term business plans.
- Transfers knowledge of key learnings throughout the enterprise, and establishes and communicates strategic and technological plans.
- Has comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles.
- Focuses on administering established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the liaison between data extraction teams and research analysts, ensuring data are curated and accessible for study-specific use.
- Build and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines to support high-quality data provisioning from raw EMR sources (e.g., Sunrise, TouchWorks, Epic) and external datasets (e.g., Vital Connect, Fitbit, public health datasets).
- Work with researchers/investigators to define data extraction specifications, validate content, and resolve data quality issues
- Facilitate integration of structured and unstructured data from internal and external systems, enabling AI algorithm deployment and statistical analysis.
- Support the de-identification and regulatory readiness of datasets for research use.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong knowledge and experience using the following software and tools: SQL/NoSQL, Python, R, Spark, Git, data pipeline tools (e.g., Airflow), cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform preferred).
- Experience with managing healthcare data
- Familiarity with data governance, privacy standards, and research compliance (e.g., HIPAA, de-identification).
- It's also beneficial to have experience with specific research areas within healthcare (e.g., basic science, clinical trials, genomics research) and emerging technologies relevant to research security.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
Job Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 10+ years of relevant experience and 2+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
