Jump | Software Engineer (Contractor) | Global Remote
Who are we?
Hi! We’re jumpapp.com and we’re looking for contract software engineers to work on our app with us. Jump is one of the fastest growing startups in the US and we’re a lean mean engineering team. “Mean” as in super nice, friendly, and fast.
Our tech stack is Elixir, Liveview, Postgres, Github, k8s, & Terraform on Google Cloud. If you love Elixir or want to learn Elixir, we want to work with you!
What is the job?
This role pays $30-$70/hr and is for global software engineering contractors.
You can work any hours from anywhere. Our code is clean, well tested, well architected and fun to work in. You’ll love how quickly you can ship stuff!
What is the hiring process?
We have a 3 step process: A screening test, a paid project, and a short live coding exercise.
First, we’ll send a screening test where you’ll have 35 minutes to deploy an app.
Second, we’ll define a real-world app for you to build within 48 hours. Anyone who successfully completes this challenge before the deadline will be paid $3,000. It must be a complete working app with all requirements.
Finally, if your code looks good, our final step is a short live coding exercise.
An example of a past paid project:
A system to create Notion tickets for bugs from within Intercom and then notify Slack & Intercom when fixed.
Stats:
140 people were invited to the screening test.
10 people were invited to complete the paid project.
7 people submitted their project.
4 people earned $3,000 for a perfect working app
2 people were hired full-time
About the app you’ll build:
I’ll send you the requirements at the start time
It will be very ambitious and difficult to finish on time
This is a real app I want to use so I’d like it deployed so I can try it. I might end up using the best one :)
Code will be judged by:
Clean organization/structure and elegant solutions
Comments on non-obvious parts of the code
Great tests
You SHOULD use AI to help you create this app. We extensively use AI and want someone who can be resourceful and make the most of it!
